Josh.ai Launches AI X OS, Bringing Generative Scene Creation and a Rebuilt App to Whole-Home Control
The Denver company says AI X OS embeds AI across its touch, text and voice interfaces, adding customizable dashboards, an active media hub and AI Scene Creation that builds home experiences from a plain-language description. Josh.

Josh.ai, the Denver-based smart home company founded in 2015, has launched AI X OS, a release the company says reimagines whole-home control by embedding AI across its touch, text and voice interfaces. In its announcement, Josh.ai describes the update as expanding its integration of AI across the control ecosystem to add intelligence to device control, interface customization and automation capabilities, and says the new products and features illustrate the company's evolution as a home automation platform in the era of AI.
Josh.ai says the launch follows an early access program that was open to its dealers, who gave feedback and learned about the evolving user experience. The company says insights from that program informed final refinements, validated the product's market readiness and reinforced its belief that partners should be involved early in the product development process. Josh.ai published dealer comments from the program, including one from Ryan Grigsby of Sound Effects, LLC, who said he was impressed with load times and the general feel and that the Josh App feels like how the Apple Home app wants to be.
Alex Capecelatro, CEO of Josh.ai, said in the announcement that the challenge facing the smart home industry is not a lack of capability but complexity, and that as homes grow to include more devices, services and experiences the control layer becomes more important than ever. Capecelatro said AI X OS is the company's answer to that challenge, combining design, intelligent automation and a refined user experience into a control platform intended to feel simpler, faster and more natural whether a user is managing a single room or an entire estate. Josh.ai also says it is the first and only platform that lets clients use AI in the context of home control.
The company lists the software updates that make up AI X OS across its product ecosystem. Josh.ai says the release includes a reimagined home page with customizable dashboards for every client showing active devices, favorite scenes and pinned devices, plus a new bottom navigation bar that is always available for whole-home control. The company says the voice interface has been redesigned for voice and text interactions, and that a new active media hub lets users access active music and video sessions from anywhere within the Josh App.
Josh.ai says updated device controllers for lighting, music and climate are powered by intuitive design, and that pool and spa integration extends control to outdoor living spaces with seamless control of Jandy and Pentair systems. The company says expanded Josh Vision brings live video feeds directly into the control experience with movable and resizable picture-in-picture windows, and that recommended scenes offer curated actions for common living situations.
Two AI features anchor the release. Josh.ai says AI Scene Creation transforms ideas into experiences by letting a user simply describe how the home should feel and having Josh.ai do the rest, and AI Image Creation generates personalized artwork to reflect the character of each home. The company says the introduction of new iOS, Android, AVA + Josh.ai remote and Josh Touchscreen graphical interfaces promotes ease of use and multi-faceted control, and directs readers to josh.ai/app to learn more about AI X OS and the Josh App experience.
