Home Assistant says LEDVANCE has joined its Works with Home Assistant program, bringing 116 certified Matter lighting devices into a lineup the project describes as one of its largest partner additions to date. The program, run by the Open Home Foundation, certifies devices that operate locally without a cloud service and keep working that way long term.
According to Home Assistant, every LEDVANCE device certified to the program uses Matter over Wi-Fi, so no extra hub or bridge is needed to add them to an existing setup. The project says Matter is an open standard that lets devices from different brands work together locally, which keeps data in the home instead of routing it through a vendor's servers.
Home Assistant says its in-house team tested all of the certified LEDVANCE devices using its certified Matter integration over a standard Wi-Fi connection, and that the certification agreement requires the devices to have the functionality users would expect, to operate locally without the need for cloud, and to continue doing so long term. LEDVANCE says openness and interoperability are essential for the future of smart homes, and that joining the community is about making its SMART+ products more accessible to people who value flexibility and local control.
The certified range, according to Home Assistant, covers filament-style bulbs, spotlights, recessed and track downlights, ceiling and wall lights, floor lamps and flexible LED strips, with most of the lineup offered as tunable white or full color. The project says there are also IP-rated options for bathrooms and the garden, including floodlights and outdoor spots, plus a SMART+ Plug that can make an ordinary lamp or appliance automatable and smart wall switches that replace the switch on the wall while keeping the bulbs already installed. Because the devices are certified to work locally, the project says they can be connected to automations and AI assistants without routing commands through a remote service.
Home Assistant says the program's core requirements are local control and privacy, and that LEDVANCE has committed to providing long-term support for the community. The project notes that because the certified devices do not need a cloud service to function, a remote server shutdown cannot turn them into e-waste, and because Matter works across platforms the lights remain usable if a household changes smart home systems.
Home Assistant says the Works with Home Assistant program is constantly evolving as new partners join, and points readers to its certified device list for the full LEDVANCE lineup. The project adds that a Home Assistant Link subscription, the service formerly known as Home Assistant Cloud, gives secure remote access to a smart home and directly supports the Open Home Foundation's work on the program. The project says the same local-first approach is what lets households wire these lights into automations and AI assistants without handing control to a remote service, and that the certified device list is the place to check which models have made the grade.
